Dr. Hamori is now offering Juvéderm Volbella® XC from Allergan. Volbella recently received FDA approval for use in the lips for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral rhytids, or vertical lip lines.

Volbella is a hyaluronic acid facial filler that blends different molelcular weights. In clinical trials, Volbella was found to effectively increase lip fullness and soften the appearance of lines around the mouth in a majority of subjects through one year.

Juvéderm Voluma XC Receives FDA Approval for Age-Related Volume Loss in the Cheek

Allergan, the maker of Juvéderm Voluma™ XC has announced that the company has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market the injectable as the first and only facial filler approved to temporarily correct age-related volume loss in the cheek area in adults over the age of 21.

According to an Allergan press release, Juvéderm Voluma™ XC helps create a more youthful appearance to the face and provides natural-looking and long-lasting results up to two years with optimal treatment.

"As people age, the cheek area can lose volume, causing the cheeks to flatten out and the skin to droop and sag," said Dr. Derek H. Jones, associate professor of dermatology, UCLA, founder and medical director, Skin Care and Laser Physicians of Beverly Hills, and clinical investigator in the filler's clinical trial where "physicians and patients were able to see instant and visible results, including correction of age-related volume loss in the cheek area and a more youthful appearance to the face."

FDA Approves New Improved Juvéderm Formula

Hi. Just a quick note that I am now carrying the new Juvéderm XC. The FDA approved the new formula about a month ago. Juvéderm, is one of several hyaluronic acid dermal fillers I have long offered in my practice. The improved formula has 0.3 percent lidocaine for relieving pain during the injection. The new formula still lasts up to one year and takes approximately 30 minutes to work. It adds a new option to our conversation of what treatments may be best for you.

Restylane lasts longer and longer

Exciting news in the WSJ today....Restylane, a hyaluronic acid soft tissue filler FDA approved for wrinkle correction of naso labial folds was found in a small study, 11 patients, to increase collagen production! I have noticed that in some patients Restylane has lasted longer and longer with each treatment. It will be interesting to see if Juvederm, Allergan's new hylanuronic filler, will do the same.

My patients love the quick results with fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm, especially when they are combined with Botox. I have noticed less and less requests for mini-facelifts and more and more for fillers. Radiesse another newly approved filler lasts a bit longer than the hyaluronic acids and is quite popular in the lower face. It will be interesting to see if it too, like Restylane, helps build up collagen lost due to aging and UV damage.
