6 Months before Wedding

Is Your Man A Botox Guy?

Top 5 Non-surgical cosmetic treatments: Men v. Women

Based on the same 2011 data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons that we blogged about last month, here is a look at how men and women differ in the cosmetic treatments they are choosing. First, lets set the record straight, in this study women represent 91% of all cosmetic procedures, and men only 9%. Among the minimally-invasive procedures, women outnumber men more than 10 to 1 — however, the number of men getting these non-surgical treatment rose 8% from 2010 to 2011 (women's growth from the previous year was 6%).

The number one treatment for both men and women was Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox® and Dysport™). The genders share the other Top 5 treatments as well (laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and facial fillers), just in a different order. Cosmetic Injectables Come Out of the Closet!

I thought I'd pass along this interesting news just released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). According to a survey conducted by the society's research foundation, most consumers of cosmetic injectables such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers do not hide their use of the treatments. Nearly 9 out of 10 respondents (87 percent) openly discuss their injectable treatments with others, and 7 out of 10 (70 percent) received support from the people they told.

Who are these people? According to the survey, they tend to be:
• married
• working mothers between 41-55 years of age
• with household incomes of under $100,000.
The survey also found that these women are health-conscious
• 95 percent exercise
• 78 percent practice healthy eating habits.
