Nanofat grafting, a regenerative therapy, is a cosmetic surgery treatment that uses the patient's own fat as an injectable. The process involves harvesting a small amount of fat from the abdomen, lower back or inner thigh and mechanically mincing it up into a cell-less slurry of growth factors that is then injected into the superficial layers of the skin (or vulva). Once deposited these growth factors help reprogram the cells of the skin to produce newer more youthful skin.
Dr. Hamori also finds this regenerative therapy useful in the treatment of lichen sclerosis with or without platelet rich plasma (PRP).
Another regenerative skin treatment offered at her practice is prescription estrogen skin cream. Women in perimenopause and menopause notice a drastic reduction in skin appearance (fine lines, crepe paper appearance, dryness, inelasticity, sagging) due to loss of collagen. While Tretinoin (Retin A) can improve cellular turnover and antioxidants (vitamin C) can protect from environmental damage, neither can stimulate estrogen receptors in the skin responsible for youthful cellular regeneration. A combination estrogen cream (estradiol and estriol) compounded by the pharmacy can restore facial skin to a more youthful state.
